Stan James Bonus and Scoop6 Betting Preview for July 28 Part 1

We've got a stellar six races to test our handicapping skills on this Saturday and a solid £120,000 or so sitting in the win fund after last week's rollover. We will have to navigate two fields of 20 and if we can get through those contests, the prize this week is actually quite winnable.

Racing kicks off at 2:20 at Ascot for the Scoop6 opener with a Class 2 contest going 1m4f for three-year-old's and up. Bridge of Gold and Fiery Lad go in as the co top-weights and the Cumani yard has been firing as of late. Fiery Lad comes in off a victory at Epsom and looks to be cruising at the moment. The spacing between his races has been good but you have to wonder whether he's an Epsom horse for course.

John Louis will attract attention based on his impressive recent record and switchover from the all weather to the turf. He hasn't been running in the greatest of races but he is hitting the line regularly at the moment and should be there or thereabouts.

Scatter Dice gets nearly two stone on the top weights and really could surprise if she finds herself at or near the front in a race without too much early speed.

A Saeed Bin Suroor runner headlines the 2:35 at York where we've got to sort through a tricky field of 15. Quick Wit is a five-year-old son of Oasis Dream who remains a full horse. You may remember him from the Meydan meeting earlier this year and he goes back to Frankie Dettori after being piloted by Silvestre De Sousa for most of his Dubai-based contests. It will be his first time on the track since his stint in the desert but he should kick on nicely here.

Tom Queally will be aboard Dimension, who was a beaten favourite last time out in the Royal Hunt Cup during the Royal Ascot meeting. He is unraced at York but looks set to kick on well on his second start off the lay-off.

Sheikh Hamdan's Haamaat looks like he could get up an capture this one as the lightly-raced filly looks to be nicely spotted here. She's in form and can hold her own – expect her to at least go close with a clean trip.

The 5f Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap boasts 20 runners and a very purse up for grabs for this class 2 handicap. Graham Gibbons saddles Bosun Breese and this in-form pair should be able to take advantage of some generous weighting. They do come up against some accomplished handicappers and you can expect Zero Money to also get some attention. Trained by Roger Charlton, expect him to show some serious improvement in his second start off the freshening. He finished just two lengths and a bit behind Rex Imperator in his first start for six months. At his age, you need a race or two before you're back and firing and this gelding has shown he can hang tough with many fields.

Seb Sanders on Taajub looks appealing as well and the five-year-old son of Exceed and Excel looks to be a very interesting outside selection who would probably look good on your tickets.
