Wednesday at Goodwood Betting Preview Part 1
- By A.J. Ryder on July 30, 2013 14:54 GMTOutstrip, the Godolphn entry, is also a maiden winner having captured a tough race at Newmarket when sent off at 4/1. Charlie Appleby will have this Darley-bred son of Exceed And Excel ready to roll for this one and he’s been off for about five weeks which should be to his liking. Outstrip is a 5/1 shot at this point.

American racing fans will recognzie the silks of Recanted, who turns out in the Paul Reddam silks. The owner of I’ll Have Another nearly captured the American Triple Crown last year but he looks to be up against it here with bookmakers pricing him around 16/1 for the outright result.
The next race is a 6f contest for maiden fillies and the form here is extremely unpredictable with a number of unraced entries here. Both Aqlaam Vision and Autumn Sunrise look to be well-qualified for this one based off of the few races they already have under their belt. Autumn Sunrise in particular has rattled off two second place performances in a row and will have Richard Hannon up for this contest. He was a beaten favourite last time out and could be dangerous with the right trip.
Merletta turns out for Jeremy Noseda’s yard and the filly by Raven’s Pass definitely deserves respect despite a sixth-place finish prior to that.
A fillies’ stakes handicap is the next one up and that’s another very tricky contest for those who are looking to wager a substantial sum. Ribbons, a three-year-old daughter of German sire Maduro, is undefeated at this point and has captured a race at Goodwood already back in May so you have to like her chances. She has Hayley Turner returning for this race and deserves some respect.
The final race of the day is the Harwoods Racing Club Handicap - a 7f contest for some extremely salty runners. This is a tough puzzle to solve but we will be looking towards the top end of the handicap with Askaud looking like to continue the quality form.
