Wednesday at Goodwood Betting Preview Part 3
- By A.J. Ryder on July 30, 2013 14:54 GMTCap O’Rushes is the highest rated contender here and he has some credible claims despite not really finding the line much lately. He trades at a 9/2 price in the market right now and the out-and-out favourite appears to be Excess Knowledge, who is available at a 2/1 price and you reckon that he’s going to take a bit of money before the race itself. The Juddmonte entry remains just a maiden winner but this race looks to be his type of contest. You reckon he will like the softer going and John Gosden has given him a few weeks to get ready for his second start off the lay-off.
He finished up well in that debut effort this year and you reckon that he will relish having an extra furlong and a half to get the result here.
The fourth race of the day is a Group 2 - the Veuve Cliquot Vintage Stakes which is a challenging 7f for two year old runners. The betting favourite at the moment appears to be Toormore, who enters off a victory at Leicester in his maiden effort when he and Richard Hughes were able to get up by a neck over the well-fancied Ertijaal. He was sent off as a joint 5/2 favourite in a 12-strong field so he acquitted himself well and was clearly in solid form.
You do have to like the spacing between the races as he has been off since May 28 and will appreciate the freshening. Punters seem keen about his chances and he is trading at around 6/4 at this point.
