There's been a bit of a shakeup in the ante post market for the upcoming King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes as betting choice St Nicholas Abbey has seen himself on the drift with several bookmakers. He had been trading as the outright favourite for quite some time but rocketed from 2/1 to 4/1 at one point earlier today with a number of bookmakers continuing to list him near 3/1 or 11/4.
This effectively puts St Nicholas Abbey at the same price as Sea Moon and Nathaniel. St Nick's odds on the exchange have also headed up towards 5.0 and hit a high of 11.0 at one point.
Speaking to the media, pilot Joseph O'Brien declared that "he's been doing a lot of his best racing lately on left-handed tracks but he's won on the round mile at the Curragh so I wouldn't see it as a worry."
O'Brien, riding a horse trained by his father, will face off against a top tier contingent of international calibre jockeys. Ryan Moore is booked to ride Sea Moon who will be running in Juddmonte colours.
William Buick retains the mount on Nathaniel and this race really does look to be his to win. Coming off an impressive score in the Coral Eclipse to kick off his season - expect him to give 110% to defend his crown here and make a major statement about his plans for the coming months.
Kieren Fallon will ride Brown Panther, who turns out for Tom Dascombe while legendary jockey Frankie Dettori will be in the irons on John Gosden's Masked Marvel.
The going is currently listed as soft but could firm up if there is less rain as we get closer to the off.
