Those looking for a spoiler in the second race will do well to back Alhebayeb, who comes in with some momentum and didn't look bad in defeat last time out. Watch for a late drift on his overall price shortly before the off.

The third race at Newmarket is the Goldsmiths Handicap and we're going a testing 1m2f over the good to soft stuff which will likely be a bit softer at this point. Godolphin boast a pair of entries here in this three-year-old restricted race. Mickael Barzalona gets Greek War and that pair won well on debut the last time they got together and will see no major threats here as only a few are getting any type of edge from the bookmaker.
Ahmed Ajtebi rides top-weight Samba King, while Hajras looks a fascinating option as Paul Hanagan switches back to the mount after a tough second-place finish on the handicap circuit at Newbury.
The fourth race features several high-profile globetrotters as the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Goldsmiths Stakes kicks off. Red Cadeaux goes in as the top weight and he hasn't finished out side of the top three this year though has only one win from four efforts. He looms large as the favourite and will be going off in the 5/2 neighbourhood barring a few late swings in the wagering.
One of the few things that could alter the strategy here is if the ground is softer than expected as that would bring Harris Tweed into the mix on a greater basis. He took a Group 3 contest at Newbury back in April and will look to get things back on track.
The next one up is a maiden fillies stakes going 6f with only a couple contenders here with a race under their belts. Fleeting Smile is one of them and boasts the connections and a formidable first effort to prove enticing enough to back in a relatively deep field. Lady Vermeer is also interesting and attracts the services of Tom Queally.
The 4:05 Portland Place Properties Conditions stakes is the second to last race of the card and lightly-raced Mukhadram looks interesting enough and will look to channel that maiden score a bit more than his last outing that saw him finish fourth. Red Duke has a great-looking pedigree – by Hard Spun out of a Gone West mare, but just doesn't seem to win very often. Look for Mister Music to finally get home as he's been knocking on the door for a while now.
The final race of the day at Newmarket on Thursday is the Egerton House Stables Handicap, which boasts a relatively deep field with lots of up-and-down form to navigate here. Look at Solemn, coming out of Milton Bradley's yard, to prove to be a good shout if he gets a clean trip.
The other to keep your eye on here is Frankie Dettori aboard Alan McCabe's Showboating. The four-year-old son of Shamardal still has plenty to prove and gets a very favourable weighting.
