2015 Queen Mother Champion Chase Tips PT 1

One of the biggest betting races of the entire Cheltenham Festival is always the Queen Mother Champion Chase - a contest which continually produces performances of the highest calibre and since the division is one of the most inclusive in jumps racing, punters always have a chance at cashing a big ticket on an upstart winner.

This year we have a number of different question marks hanging over the top of the race but you can certainly expect a diverse set of opinions from punters as there is no genuine stand-out selection here.

Sprinter Sacre was once the most widely-vaunted young contender on the jumps racing circuit but was forced to miss the latter half of last season when he was pulled up at Kempton and subsequently sat on the sidelines until returning at Ascot back in mid-January of 2015.

He wasn’t able to get the better of Dodging Bullets on the day despite being backed down to 4/6 favouritism in a five horse race. Dodging Bullets will likely return here too and this horse who once put in so much time running undefeated now must answer whether that was just a blip on the radar from a year or so on the sidelines.

At the time of this writing, Nicky Henderson’s charge is trading anywhere from 11/4 to 5/2 with most major bookmakers and looming like a co first choice with Sire De Grugy, who also put a red mark on his record opening his account this year despite following that up with a Grade 2 score at Chepstow a few weeks ago.

Sire De Grugy had strung together an impressive 2013/14 campaign with just a solitary loss coming in his second attempt of the season in a deep campaign that spanned seven races. He unseated Jamie Spencer at Newbury when kicking off his campaign and then put in the aforementioned race at Chepstow over a field of four.
