2008 Breeders Cup Betting Tips
It is time again for the Breeders' Cup World Championship at the Santa Anita tracks. The main event on the championship day would be the $5 Million Breeders' Cup Classic, which is the richest race in North America and where a maximum field of 14 tackles the 1 ¼ m race. This year's race features some of the best horses from around the world. What has added excitement to this race is the entry of Curlin, who is the reigning "Horse of the Year" and the 2007 winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic. 4 year old Curlin, trained by Steve Asmussen, has 11 wins and has never finished out of top 3 in his 15 career starts has earnings of more than $10 Million which makes him the richest North American-based Thoroughbred of all-time. After months of deliberation majority owner Jess Jackson, who was concerned about the surface at Santa Anita, finally gave the go ahead after Curlin showed an impressive performance in his workout when he ran five furlongs in 59.12 on October 13. This year he has won the Dubai World Cup, Stephen Foster, Woodward, and Jockey Club Gold Cup. Keeping in view the current form with his last win on 27th Sept 2008 at Belmont Park and the factor that he has an all time in the money record, I would love to go with Curlin for this year's Breeders' Cup Classic. Another horse, which is making everyone sit up and take notice, is the 3 year old undefeated Casino Drive. Half -brother of Belmont Stakes winners Rags to Riches and Jazil, he can be a good challenge to Curlin after he won this third race in as many starts with the last one on 12th Oct 2008 at Santa Anita, 1 1/6 mile. Other good challengers would be Britain's Henrythenavigator, Go Between and Ravens Pass. Ladbrokes is offering the best odds at this moment on Curlin at 3. With the amount of betting coming in on Curlin, it will not be a surprise before the odds on Curlin become 2 or 1.5. If you want to go in with this favorite, I suggest getting in now. An each way bet would also be a good strategy considering Curlin's record of never finishing out of top 3. Casino Drive also offers the same opportunity based on its record till now but with only three races to show, it is still quite an underdog and we have to see how it fares against this field.
