2009 Australian Open Betting Tips
Anybody looking to make some serious cash, and take advantage of some extremely generous odds, should check out Blue Square for all their betting on the Australian Open. Just like every other UK-based bookmaker, they've got Andy Murray listed as the outright favourite to take the Men's title and secure his first Grand Slam victory. The best part is that most other sites have Murray listed at 2 or 2.5, Blue Square is listing him as the 3.5 co-favourite alongside Roger Federer. I haven't seen value like this on Murray on any other betting site. Attention must be paid. I feel as though the odds on Federer are extremely short and something in the region of 4.5 or 5 would have been a bit more realistic. Federer hasn't been in great form of late and in a knock-out tournament like this one, a simple mistake can de-rail an excellent tournament. Andy Murray is effectively the form player in world tennis at the moment and his thirst for a Grand Slam title looks set to be satiated on Australian soil. Aside from these two co-favourites, current world #1 Rafa Nadal is listed at 5.5 with Novak Djokovic just behind him at 6.5. I think either of these players have a very reasonable chance of securing the title, especially if Murray is upset in the early rounds. Keep your eyes on Djokovic. Questions remain over the fitness of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga so don't let those 17/1 odds tempt you into doing something stupid. If you're looking to back two players to make the final, you can drop an each-way bet on the top two places at ½ the odds, which is a great deal- especially if you're looking to back a safe bet and a long-shot to get in there. You could have a very generous payday if you see somebody like Andy Roddick or James Blake in there at the end. Remember, Blue Square always has the edge on tennis odds. So if you're looking to back Andy Murray to win the 2009 Australian Open, make sure you're backing him at Blue Square so you can get the extra payout that you deserve.
