2009 AUSTRALIAN OPEN GOLF BETTING TIPS
The world of golf really seems to have its eyes elsewhere (wonder why?) and the 2009 Australian Open is turning into a fairly low-key event. This is unfortunate, as there is lots of quality golf to be played here and I expect a very competitive few days at New South Wales Golf Club.
Stuart Appleby is the across-the-board favourite for this one with a 5.0 price at Ladbrokes. You’ll find Adam Scott just a step behind with a 6.5 price tag. Jamies Nitties is expected to be there-or-thereabouts and you’ll find him available at 8/1.
Nick O’Hern trades at 15.0 alongside Scott Hend. Michael Sim is well-priced at 21.0 while Andrew Dodt is available at 26.0 with Bryce Molder also listed at the same margin. Geoff Ogilvy is a real value play at 26.0 and if he can turn around some recent form, I think he’ll be a very solid selection.
One of the biggest stories in this tournament is the 50% of John Daly that’s showed up. I’m not sure where the rest of John Daly is playing this weekend, but the sight of him knocking a 3 iron shot over 300 yards is a clear sign that dropping 50 KG hasn’t affected his game one bit. He’s a quality player who claims to have cut out the drink and, after a stomach stapling, looks in the best shape of his life. I’m confident that this has probably added another decade to John’s life and I really hope this transition works out for him.
Daly is well-priced at 81.0 and I’m going to be backing him here on an each-way, just because I think he may get some momentum from all that. It would be a great story, and I think a good first-round performance will see his price cut in half. I’m getting in and backing John Daly while the getting’s good.
