2009 BREEDERS CUP FILLY AND MARE TURF BETTING TIPS
We have a fairly slim field of 8 contesting this $2,000,000 Grade 1 race for three year-old and up fillies and mares. The morning line favourite is the UK import Midday, a well-raced three-year-old bay filly by Oasis Dream out of Midsummer. This Juddmonte-farms owned female comes into the race on 212313 form for the year. She scored in a victory over the impressive Rainbow View at Goodwood in August during the Group 1 Blue Square Nassau Stakes. She also came second in the Group 1 Investec Oaks, losing out marginally to Sariska. This is a first-rate filly and will be tough to beat. You'll find Midday at 5/2 in the morning line and 3.75 on Betfair.Multiple Grade 1 winner Forever Together is also proving to be a very popular selection and her partnership with Julien Leparoux has seen 4 Grade 1 wins in the last year. A very solid mare with plenty of pace, I expect her to put up a very strong showing and be aided by drawing the 2 stall. This mare is listed at 4/1 in the morning line and 4.4 on Betfair. Magical Fantasy looks to be another extremely strong contender who enters the race with 4 straight victories over fields of 8 or more. The 4 year-old chocolate-coloured filly is a west-coast specialist who eats, sleeps and breathes turf. Victories at Santa Anita, Del Mar, and Hollywood Park give me plenty of confidence and three of those four straight victories have come in Grade 1 competition. It's been a very good year for the Patrick Gallagher-trained filly and I think she could be poised to score here. Magical Fantasy is 3/1 in the morning line and 5.1 on Betfair. My other selection is the long shot Maram. Chad Brown's 3 year-old bay filly comes into the race having only run twice this year with a victory at Santa Anita in the John Hettinger Stakes and a third place finish in the Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park. I think this filly is a winner when she gets the right draw and I actually think the far stall gives her every chance here. She is well-priced at 15/1 in the ML and 23.0 on Betfair.
