2009 BREEDERS CUP SATURDAY NOVEMBER 7 BETFAIR AND MORNING LINE FAVOURITES

The big action on the opening day at the Oak Tree Meet at Santa Anita has just wrapped up and punters are already piling onto Betfair and grabbing quality prices based on all the information we picked up today. It was a great day for Julien Leparoux and Godolphin had some real disappointments. I hit Tapitsfly and She Be Wild among a few other nice little pick-ups but I was extremely disappointed by Mastery in the Marathon. Either way, I had a more profitable first day than I was expecting and the fact that so many longer-odds horses pulled things off is going to shake things up for tomorrow's play. Be sure to check back a few hours before race time for our detailed insight into each race. We had a 50% strike rate today and expect to build on it tomorrow. In the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf, we've got Interactif and Pounced as the two favourites in the morning line at 4/1 and 9/2, respectively. There's a large field in this one and I'm notcing that Pounced is listed at a lower price with Betfair. He is trading at 5.0 while Interactif is listed at 5.6. Viscount Nelson actually edges ahead here at 5.4 while the ML lists A P O'Brien's Viscount Nelson at 6/1. There's a very big field for the $1,000,000 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint and we're seeing California Flag and Diamondrella as the favourites. California Flag is listed at 7/2 in the morning line and 6.2 on Betfair. Diamondrella is available at 4/1 in the ML and 6.4 in the Betfair market, which hasn't really developed too much so far. This one is wide open though and I think the longer-odds horses should take this one. In the 2009 Breeders Cup Sprint, the morning line favourites Bob Baffert's Zensational by a big margin. You'll find her at a very slim 7/5 at the moment and Betfair boasts a juicy 3.0 price. Gayego is close behind at 3.6 with Betfair and a 5/2 morning line listing. I'm backing Capt. Candyman Can, myself at 15/1 ML and 10.0 on Betfair- a Very interesting fact.Betting on 2 year olds is always a bit up in the air, but the Breeders Cup Juvenile is skewing towards Bob Baffert's Lookin' At Lucky with an 8/5 morning line price. He's trading at an enticing 4.1 on Betfair. D'Funnybone is a favourite of mine and trades at 5.8 with Betfair and a 5/2 ML price. Goldikova looks the horse to beat in the Breeders Cup Mile with the very slim price of 2.68 on Betfair. The morning line lists Goldikova at 8/5 with the British raider Delegator providing competition at 3/1 in the morning line and a solid 6.2 price on Betfair. Gladiatorus could pull something off for Godolphin here, keep that in mind. Mastercraftsman is a dominant favourite at 6/5 in the morning line for the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. He's trading on Betfair at 3.1 and that's a solid price on a very quality runner. Bullsbay is 2nd in the morning line, having finished 3rd to Rachel Alexandra in the Woodward. He's on Betfair at 7.4 while at a slim 3/1 in the ML. I expect him to be a pari-mutuel favourite. Conduit dominates the $3,000,000 Breeders Cup Turf with a very slim price on both Betfair and the morning line. The US odds are sitting at a 7/5 price with Betfair at a mere 2.2. Spanish Moon commands a Betfair price of 4.5 and an ML listing of 5/2.The 2009 Breeders Cup Classic pick is Rip Van Winkle according to Betfair at 3.25 at the moment. The Morning Line lists Rip at 7/2. Zenyatta appeas to be the favoured American runner at 5/2 with a Betfair listing of 4.5. Summer Bird has drifted back up to 10.5 from a low of 8.8. Effectively, prices are rising on every horse but Rip Van Winkle and Zenyatta.
