2009 CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL DAY 2 TIPS AND PREVIEW RSA CHASE
One of the festival's shorter fields is contesting the RSA Chase and we're seeing a lot of late betting volume heading in one direction- Cooldine (4.1). With Ruby on top and a Grade 1 victory less than a month ago you really get the feeling that this is the form horse for this race. Having defeated Forpadydeplasterer at Leopardstown by a determined performance with Walsh on board you can't doubt that this is a solid seven year-old who is one of the stronger Irish horses at the festival. This Paul Nicholls horse weighs in at 5/1 and is partly owned by Sir Alex Ferguson. In the Cheltenham Business Club's Novice Chase last December, What a Friend came out on top over a competitive field which included Ballyfitz and Tot O' Whiskey. If Cooldine makes any errors, I expect What a Friend to be poised to capitalize. Carruthers (11/2) also attracts the eye and two first place victories this year do a lot of favors in terms of answering questions about form. All of this horses victories have come with Mattie Batchelor on top and they're not deviating here. I expect a close contest, but I don't fancy Carruthers during the final third.
