2009 DUBAI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BETTING TIPS
After the first day’s play in Dubai, we look like we’re going to have a very interesting few days at Jumeirah Golf Estates. As it currently stands, Robert Allenby put in a very solid day 1 total and is now standing at -7 for the outright win. He has several close competitors and they include Camillo Villegas, Lee Westwood and Chris Wood all listed at -6. There are some even bigger names just a stroke back from that with Thomas Aiken, Padraig Harrington, Wen-Chong Liang, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott all trading at a -5 price.
Right now, this tournament is anyone’s game. With high first-day scores, you know that means more players are in the hunt for the victory. This championship is going to reward risk-takers and I can see the leader’s position changing hands on a frequent basis.
Top UK Bookmaker Ladbrokes has listed Lee Westwood as the current tournament favourite in the outright betting market. He is carrying a 6.0 price tag, just ahead of former tournament favourite Rory McIlroy, who is available at 8.0 and Robert Allenby at 9.0. You’ll find Villegas and Harrington well-priced at 11.0 and then the odds take a pretty big jump to Adam Scott, Chris Wood, Geoff Ogilvy and Retief Goosen; who are all listed at 21.0.
Other notables include Ian Poulter at 41.0, Sergio Garcia at 41.0, Ernie Els at 67.0 and Thomas Aiken at an enticing 51.0- if he holds up and keeps playing how he played on opening day, his price will plummet like a stone. This is a great opportunity for you Betfair guys out there.
My tournament pick is Padraig Harrington, just based on quality and consistency, and I also like Thomas Aiken at that massive price on an each-way bet.
Keep your eyes peeled to Ladbrokes to check out the two-ball betting match-ups!
