2009 DUBAI WORLD CUP BETTING TIPS
Six million dollars is at stake on Saturday at the 2009 Dubai World Cup. The richest race in racing has offered up some incredible competition in the past few years and, despite many observers saying that there aren't any real standouts this year, I am very much inclined to disagree- I think we're in for a classic. Things aren't as clear cut as they were last year when Curlin triumphed over Asiatic Boy in relatively simple fashion. Curlin is an absolutely outstanding horse and we've seen an influx of more mediocre horses in this year's Dubai World Cup, but I think there's a few real stand-outs (and some excellent value bets) to be had for the discerning punter. From the off, the big name is heavily tipped Albertus Maximus. At the moment, he's carrying across the board odds ranging from 9/4 all the way down to 2/1. His most recent victory came at Gulfstream Park where he bested Finallymadeit in late January by a considerable margin. He knows how to close things out and is much more than just a miler, but he hasn't demonstrated the foolproof form necessary for me to back him at this price. Asiatic Boy really had a go at it last year, and he's been in very competitive Nad al Sheba form so far this season. He beat out Happy Boy in the Al Maktoum Challenge earlier this month and with John Murtagh on top could very well be in contention. He's got more favourable odds, but I still don't see the value with his odds ranging around the 3/1 mark. My personal tip is Casino Drive. Not only because he's part Canadian, but because of his solid track record and excellent poise under pressure. I think he's going to have to fight for this one, but I consider this a very winnable race for him. His experience in the conditions in Japan will be helpful and I like him on an All Weather surface with three wins from six, lifetime. He comes in at around 5/1 and I consider that a decent piece of business. If you're looking for a longer shot with reasonable chance of winning, I would take a second look at Gloria De Campeao. This Brazilian number bested the talented Art of War at Nad Al Sheba late in February. It was a comfortable victory and I fancy the horse at this distance. Listed odds between 20/1 and 25/1 are very enticing and he should factor into your show bets, at the very least. RECOMMENDATION:1. Casino Drive2. Asiatic Boy3. Gloria De Campeao
