2009 EPSOM OAKS BETTING TIPS

We're now a mere 48 hours away from the 2009 Epsom Oaks and antepost favourite Sariska is now available at around 5/2 depending on which bookmaker you're betting with. Midday and Rainbow View are deadlocked at 10/3 and then we're got a solid little gap opening up between the top 3 and the rest of the field. Phillipina can be backed for around 6/1 with Perfect Truth carrying a price of 10/1. Oh Goodness Me is listed at 16/1 and then there's another big jump with High Heeled and Wadaat both trading at around 33/1. The Miniver Rose is at 40/1 while longshot Tottie props up the field with a 125/1 price. William Hill is running 1/4 odds on places 1, 2, 3 with a non-runner no bet clause. Sariska has only run three times, but this filly has impressed in the past, especially in her debut at Newmarket where she bested a field of 17 with Jamie Spencer on board. A 4th place finish against 16 at Newbury wasn't the best way to start off the 2009 flat season, but a triumph in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes against a field of six that included Star Ruby showed that this filly has what it takes to win a high profile race against quality opposition. This is a horse just entering its prime and the Epsom Oaks is a potential career-maker for this 3 year-old female. Midday has a bit more of a mixed record than Sariska, but she also has an extra summer under her belt. Midday won the Oaks Trial Stakes at Lingfield earlier last month over a field of 9, improving on her 2nd place finish to Debussy at Epsom in late April. I think that record this year bodes well for this filly and a prior victory at Newmarket late last year also bellies a quality runner. Rainbow View is a bit of a different story with an unbeaten 2008 season with four on the bounce gave way to a fifth place finish in the 1000 Guineas. Up against some real quality, she also didn't run the best race, but you want to back form in the Epsom Oaks and this is a horse that is short of 2009 form.
