2009 Eurovision Song Contest Betting Tips

Paddy Power, the top Irish bookmaker has recently released its odds on next year's Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Moscow from May 12-16. After last year's competition didn't exactly pan out in England's favour, many punters are confident that England could be in with a shout this time, regardless of who the actual contender happens to be. Paddy Power lists England at 9/1 to win the coveted title with the odds slightly lower at 3/1 for the English contender to reach the No.1 on the UK singles charts in 2009. The odds are decidedly slimmer on England reaching the top as opposed to finishing dead last. If the UK finish last in next year's Eurovision, Paddy Power is paying out at 40/1. If the UK's contender is truly deplorable and they wind up receiving nil points from every voting country, Paddy is paying out a whopping 100-1!Russia took last year's title with the song "Believe" while England haven't taken the title since 1998 when they won with the song "Love Shine a Light" by Katrina and the Waves. Eleven years on, one might think that the UK is due.
