2009 FRENCH OPEN BETTING ROGER FEDERER ODDS ON TO WIN
We're down to the final four in the 2009 French Open and you would have had a pretty hard time picking out these specific four to all be competing at this point. With the exit of Rafael Nadal and the subsequent loss of Andy Murray, the tournament was blown wide open and it is firmly Roger Federer's to win. The two matches will kick off at the same time on Friday and we've got competitive odds in both. Ladbrokes has Fernando Gonzalez listed at 4/6 over Robin Soderling (11/10) who may just be a dark horse to win this whole thing. The best odds are 11/4 on Gonzalez winning 3-1. A Soderling victory at 3-1 pays 4/1. Soderling 3-2 pays out at 11/2. You can also take Soderling +1.5 games at evens. Roger Federer is 1/3 for the outright victory over Juan Martin del Potro who carries a price of 9/4. The set betting has Federer favoured at 13/8 to win in straight sets with a 3-1 victory paying 5/2. del Potro's best chance at a win seems to be a 3-1 victory which pays out at 11/2. You can also back him +4.5 games at evens. As it currently stands, Roger Federer is 4/6 to win the tournament outright with Gonzalez and del Potro both listed at 9/2. Soderling is just a step behind at a straight 5/1 for the victory. Like I said before, this is more or less Federer's to lose and while he disposed of Monfils rather well, he had a shaky 3-2 win previously. I think it's possible that del Potro can push his buttons and if Federer makes mistakes early, he may not even be in the final. Either way, I would say that the safe money goes on him and you know he'll be listed at 1/3 to win the tournament should he get through the next round. If you're looking to back Federer, you may as well do it now.
