2009 GRAND NATIONAL ODDS AND TIPS FOR MY WILL

Another excellent specimen from the Paul Nicholls stable, many punters have declared this nine year-old an Also-Ran- a bridesmaid horse who has raced against some of the best but never pulled off a significant victory. The punters for the 2009 Aintree Grand National seemingly have other ideas, as My Will has been established as the punter's favourite heading into the upcoming National Hunt showcase. In terms of career statistics, My Will has been quality with 8 wins, 8 seconds and 7 thirds out of 32 total runs. His most recent action was running in the 2009 Cheltenham Gold Cup where he finished fifth behind three of his stablemates- Kauto Star, Denman and Neptune Collonges. While his lifetime track-record isn't super-strong against first-tier opposition (he has lost to Kauto, Madison Du Berlais, Our Vic and Exotic Dancer) his form against the mid-grade tier that generally runs at the Grand National has been nothing short of impressive. He was run sparingly through the entire 08 season with just a quick outing at Newbury being his only action. He finished fifth to Madison Du Berlais. MY WILL BETTING TIPSA lack of quality recent form will likely be what stops My Will from achieving victory in the 2009 Grand National. I would pay lots of attention to any news coming out of the Nicholls camp and once My Will has been given a run-out, I would base my initial around that. I expect his price to shorten if there isn't any significant news in the run-up to the actual running. I don't see his price getting any lower than 8/1 and even now I have trouble finding any significant value. There are simply too many other horses contesting this race. You have to go back to Cheltenham '06 before you get My Will's last victory as his current run of form over the past year or two makes him an attractive option for a show-bet, but in terms of out-and-out winner potential I just don't think My Will has the form. He isn't the punters favourite for nothing, but I would wait for more news indicating a horse in top-condition before I went and put any serious money on My Will.
