2009 ICC WORLD TWENTY20 SUPER 8'S BETTING TIPS
Now that the Super 8's have been decided for the ICC World Twenty20, William Hill has installed South Africa as the favourites to win the tournament ahead of former favourites India as the Proteas topped their group in a final ball victory over New Zealand. Earlier in the day, Pakistan defeated the Dutch with Shahid Afridi taking four wickets for eleven runs in four overs. As it currently stands at William Hill, South Africa carry a price of 5/2 with India just behind at 3/1. One of the main reasons behind India's increase in price could be the tournament-ending injury to Virender Sehwag. Sri Lanka has had a solid tournament so far and they stand alongside New Zealand at 5/1. Daniel Vettori sat out today's match and so far there is no word on whether he will be fit for the next fixture. Pakistan are listed at 7/1 with England at 8/1 and West Indies carrying a price of 9/1. Longshots Ireland can be backed at 100/1. William Hill is offering up each-way betting on the outright market with 1/3 odds on the first two places- effectively backing a team to reach the final. Over the next two days, Sir Lanka faces the West Indies with Sri Lanka solid favourites at 8/13. Chris Gayle's West Indies side are listed at 6/5. India's Gautum Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are both listed at 3/1 for top batsmen with their fixture against Ireland. India are 1/16 to take the victory with the Irish available at a very long 7/1. The Irish actually have a second fixture the next day against New Zealand where they are expected to be a bit more competitive. The Black Caps are 1/8 for the win and the Irish are 9/2. South Africa vs England should be a tasty fixture and the Proteas are listed at 4/7 against England's 5/4.
