2009 KERRYGOLD CHAMPION CHASE BETTING TIPS
A very limited, albeit talented, field is set to contest the running of the 2009 Kerrygold Champion Chase at Punchestown tomorrow. Master Minded, easily one of the stand-outs of the whole season, is your odds-on favourite for this race listed across the board at odds of either 1/3 or 1/4. This one is destined to go down in history as an absolute legend and I expect tomorrow's Punchestown meeting to help solidify that status a bit more. Coming in just behind Master Minded is the well-regarded Big Zeb. He struck in the Kings Crisp Hurdle during the Irish Grand National meeting at Fairhouse just two weeks ago and he also brings a fair amount of Punchestown success, with a BJ Geraghty-piloted victory in the Grade 1 Cathal Ryan Memorial last year. Barring falls, Big Zeb's worst performance ever in his career was a mere 3rd place several years ago and if Master Minded wasn't running here, Big Zeb would be the favourite by some margin. I think he's an absolute lock in the 2nd part of a 1-way forecast bet and he's very good money on a place as well. Look for him in the region of 11/2 if you can get it. The rest of the field includes Mansony and Conna Castle along with Watson Lake and Newmill. Mansony has won at Punchestown back in February in Grade 2 action and boasts a very respectable record. He's my show bet on this one and I expect hm to deliver. He's got a number of races under his belt and boasts a respectable Chase record. I couldn't back this horse to win, but for a third place finish he seems about right. He hasn't had a Grade 1 victory for over two years now, but I think he'll put in a good shift. The adventurous may even back him for 2nd over Big Zeb. Conna Castle can run a race, but I just don't fancy him against this type of a field. I think your tricast bet should read Master Minded x Big Zeb x Mansony.
