2009 PREMIERSHIP TOP SCORER BETTING TIPS
The two candidates for English Premier League Top Scorer seem to be deadlocked between Nicolas Anelka and Cristiano Ronaldo-both deadlocked at 18 goals apiece. Steven Gerrard is also in the running, but he will need a final day hat-trick (and no goals from his rivals) to secure the Premiership Golden Boot this year. Top UK bookmaker William Hill has Anelka as the odds-on favourite to secure the title with odds listed at 1/2. Cristiano Ronaldo carries a price of 6/4 and Liverpool's Steven Gerrard sits at 16/1. What this really comes down to, for me, is team selection. I don't think it's out of the question that Ronaldo will play in the match against Hull City, although some would be pretty confident that he'll be rested instead. Could you imagine the shock and horror at Old Trafford if Ronaldo was stretchered off just a few days before the epic clash with Barca? There is also a possibility that Anelka may not start the final match as well, in fact, he may not even play this Sunday as Chelsea may be looking to give some younger players a final-day run out. I think on a match-by-match basis that Cristiano Ronaldo is more likely to score than Nicolas Anelka, as Ronaldo has a better range of ability and is now frequently started in the Center-Forward's position. I think 6/4 isn't a bad bet at all, but I would wait and take a gander at the team sheets beforehand.
