2009 ROYAL ASCOT DAY FOUR LAST MINUTE BETTING TIPS
There's plenty of quality racing happening across the UK and Ireland today, but the pick of the crop remains the 2009 Royal Ascot. We've put together some last minute betting tips tracking the big favourites and price drops from the day's five races.Paddy Power has noted three major each-way steamers and they include Swift Gift in the 5:30 Buckingham Palace Stakes, who has dropped from 14/1 to 11/1 in the past few hours. Clowance House has tumbled from 20/1 to 16/1 for the 2 mile Queen's Vase, which runs at 4:55. South Easter is the final listed steamer and goes to 9/2 from 11/2 for the 2:05 King Edward VII Stakes. The 2:30 Albany Stakes looks like a straight duel between Lillie Langtry (6/4) and Aegean (2/1), but I'm looking at Kurtanella (25/1) on a cheeky each-way and I may opt for the place bet as well. There are some quality two year-olds in this race that we'll be seeing more of in 2010. The 3:05 King Edward VII Stakes is going to be interesting at 1 mile four furlongs, but I like Aqwaal (13/2) and I think Debussy (9/1) may contend this one as well. Black Bear Island (11/4) and South Easter (9/2) are expected to set the pace. As mentioned above, South Easter is dropping in price and will likely be shorter come post time. The value in the 3:45 Coronation Stakes is with Rainbow View (15/2) ahead of Ghanaati (9/4) and Elusive Wave (3/1). He hasn't run quite so well this year, but has stellar form over this distance. The 4:20 Wolferton Handicap is just over a mile and after Kingdom of Fife was dropped, I'm backing Perfect Stride (8/1) to make a move here. The favourite is Stone of Scone (9/2) with Khateeb (12/1) another one to keep an eye on. The 4:55 Queen's Vase is a tough two-mile slog and Dhushan (3/1) is the favourite. I like Lethal Gaze (25/1), who's been in decent form this year and boasts a generous price. Yankee Doodle (8/1) is another one to take a look at. Paddy Power is paying out 1/4 odds on 5 places for the 5:30 Buckingham Palace Stakes. There's four very tightly-priced horses duking it out for the favourite's position and Mutheeb (8/1) gets the nod at the moment ahead of Something (9/1), Musaalem (9/1) and Seasider (9/1). Mister Hardy (16/1) is 100% from three races this year and is a good value bet at his price.
