2009 ROYAL ASCOT DAY TWO BETTING TIPS
We've got some really appealing races kicking off on the second day of the 2009 Royal Ascot festival tomorrow and after all of the excitement today, I expect even more surprises on Day Two of the festival. The odds are out for the 3:45 Prince of Wales Stakes and Sir Michael Stoute's Tartan Bearer is the favourite going in at a 15/8 price. Slim odds, surely, but this one looks set to be a three-way contest between Tartan Bearer, Vision D'etat and Never on Sunday. Vision D'etat has put in a solid shift at Longchamp in France this year finishing 3-1. He took six in a row last year against some solid opposition and if he has Mendizabal on top he's one to look out for. Unfortunately for him, Peslier will be on top and that's enough to rule him out for me. Never on Sunday is another quality French runner and he could strike here if he starts well. He's fresh off a Group 1 victory at Longchamp just less than a month ago, and I fancy him here on an each-way at 4/1. He will likely be shorter odds tomorrow so I would say get in there and back him now. Other notables include Twice Over at 7/1, Trincot at 10/1, Virtual at 12/1, Tazeez at 14/1 and Estejo at a very long 66/1. In the 4:20 Royal Hunt Cup, we have a mammoth field contesting the race. Forgotten Voice is a favourite by quite some distance at 4/1 with his closest contenders Roaring Forte and Cadre deadlocked at 8/1. Mias Boy, Docofthebay and Axiom all come in at 14/1 while Dunno sits at 16/1. Forgotten Voice's standing is justified as he hasn't exactly run in the highest quality races, but he boasts a 100% record of three wins from three. He specializes in milers and could be a really solid contender if he runs mistake-free. Roaring Forte took a victory at Newmarket this year against a field of 6 and had a solid outing last season. This is an Irish horse than can perform on the day, the only question is whether tomorrow is his day or not. 8/1 Cadre looks to be a slightly erratic horse whose 2009 form reads 11-1-6. Keep in mind that the victory at Yarmouth came against a field of just 5. I don't see him taking this one, but he could be a place bet for sure. If you're looking for a long-shot winner, and this looks one suited to a long-shot winner, I would go all in on Manassas. He may not have the best recent form, but he disposed of Extraterrestrial at Doncaster against a field of 21 in March. The distance suits him and he knows how to win a race. In the 4:55 Queen Mary Stakes, we have a very tight-looking contest between Rose Blossom and Don't Tell Mary. In regards to Rose Blossom, this young filly only has one race under her belt, but she absolutely demolished a field of 9 at Hamilton on May 29th and will be looking to do so again. She has great speed from the off and should keep in steadily. Don't Tell Mary has two victories from two this year and she bested The Hermitage, who has a disappointing day today, at Beverley last month. There was a field of 16 there, so she knows how to handle a crowd. A victory at Bath against a field of 6 also bellies confidence. Be sure to keep your eye on Itwasonlyakiss at 33/1 and Jealous Again at 12/1.
