2009 SNOW ON CHRISTMAS DAY ODDS AND BETTING FORECASTS
With snow pounding most portions of the UK over the past few days we've seen a significant amount of movement in the odds for snow on Christmas Day 2009. Over at Ladbrokes, they've got a full selection of odds and you can wager by major world city or UK Postal Code.
As it currently stands, there are several odds-on selections to record snow on Christmas Day. The site defines snow on Christmas Day to a snowflake, sleet or a snow grain to have officially been recorded to fall at the main international airport for the city (or nearest applicable reserve station). This is good for the entire 24 hour period of Christmas Day in that area. Snow that is already on the ground does not count. Also, the British Weather Services will verify all these bets so you don't have to worry about a decision wrongly going against you.
You can bet for or against snow in all of the listed cities.
The strong bets for snow look to be Beijing at 1.53, Aberdeen at 1.83, Ottawa also at 1.83 and the slimmest odds are on St Petersburg (Russia, not Florida) which carries a slim 1.36.
One interesting thing to note is the massive weather system that has just moved into the American north-east. Generally, if there's a large pile of snow on the ground in cities like these you can count on at least a sprinkling on Christmas Day. You'll find New York City's Central Park listed at 4.5 to record snowfall. You can see that Ottawa, Ontario is one of the favourites for snow and I can assure you that if it's snowing in Ottawa, there's a solid chance it's going to at least be dusting in New York City.
London - Heathrow is trading at 3.25 while Manchester can be backed at 2.62. Glasgow snow on Christmas Day pays out at 2.37 while Birmingham is listed at 2.62. Dublin sits at a lengthy 5.0.
If you enjoy living life on the edge, you can have a bash on Sydney, Australia at 101.0 or Miami, Florida at the same price. Naples, Italy can be had at a 41.0 price. Malaga, Spain sits at 51.0. Rome is well-priced at 34.0.
My solid selections are every city listed at odds-on and I also like Moscow at 2.1, I'd go and say have a punt on New York City- that looks a solid bet to me. Glasgow looks a solid selection as does Innsbruck at 3.75.
