2009 UEFA CUP FINAL SHAKHTAR DONETSK VS WERDER BREMEN BETTING

There is really nothing between these two teams and the winner of the 2009 UEFA Cup is virtually anyone's guess. Shakhtar Donetsk come into the match with one of the best defensive records in the competition, having kept a number of clean sheets. Werder go for a more attacking type of play, but it relies on staunchness through the center of the pitch. With the exception of maybe Pizarro, I don't think either team has a world-class finisher, which will likely ensure a fairly low scoreline. Both teams are 13/8 for the outright win with the draw paying 23/10. The correct score market is nearly the same odds on most of the scorelines, but you'll notice a very tiny blip that seemingly pushes this one in the direction of Werder Bremen. 1-0 for both teams pays 7/1, while 2-0 to Werder pays 9/1. 2-0 to Shakhtar pays 10/1. 2-1 to Werder pays 8/1 while 2-1 to Shahktar pays 9/1. Sensing a pattern? So am I. Unless this is an emphatic goalscoring bonanza, which it most likely won't be, then I would consider Werder the slim favourites here. This could be one of those 1-0 matches with a goal scored by a full-back or a defender. I see that Rasvan Rat is listed at 40/1 and Dario Srna is paying out at 20/1 for last goalscorer. In the scorecast market, Claudio Pizzaro to score the only goal in a 1-0 contest pays out at 33/1 and that's a very plausible scenario. If you think this one won't be solved in extra time, why not check out the Winner/Means market at Ladbrokes. Werder Bremen to win on penalties pays 12/1 while Werder to win in extra time pays 8/1. Shakhtar are the same price for a penalties win, but are listed at 9/1 to win in extra time. If you ask me, Werder Bremen have a little extra goal-scoring punch and that's what can win you cup finals. I'm backing them to take the 2009 UEFA Cup, but I think extra-time is a very real possibility- and that this one will be extremely close.
