2009 US OPEN MEN'S BETTING TIPS
It's really been a hell of a tournament at the US Open this year and it looks to be shaping up as another epic Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal clash of the titans. The in-form Federer had a bit of a blip midway through his match with Robin Soderling, but still managed to dispose of the Swede. The Swiss player is the odds-on favourite at 4/7 to win the tournament. Rafa Nadal was the 3rd favourite whilst Andy Murray was in the contest, but he is now the 2nd favourite with a 4/1 price. Juan Martin Del Potro is in action today and can be backed to win the tournament at 5/1. Those three seem to be the realistic contenders with Novak Djokovic the next likely winner at 10/1. Fernando Gonzalez and Marin Cilic are expected to depart the competition today and are listed at 33/1. For tonight's matches, we have Juan Martin Del Potro vs Marin Cilic with Del Potro the distinct favourite at a 1/5 price with BetFred. You can back Cilic at 10/3 but I just don't think he's got the quality. Del Potro to win in straight sets is listed at evens while a 3-1 margin is 9/4. A 3-2 margin in Del Potro's favour will pay out at 13/2. Rafael Nadal vs Fernando Gonzalez is an intriguing fixture with Nadal enduring a tough challenge from Gael Monfils earlier in the week. I think Nadal's 1/4 price is about right, but Gonzalez should be a little higher than 11/4. Nadal to win in straight sets pays out at 6/5, but I think he's looking for a 3-1 victory here at 9/4. I think this one is setting up for a Federer/Nadal final and there will be plenty of money to be made there. It's hard to go against anyone but Federer right now, but if I had to pick somebody other than him or Nadal I'd have to back Del Potro.
