2009 US OPEN MEN'S DIVISION OUTRIGHT BETTING
After an incredible first half of the tournament provided us with plenty of incredible upsets on the women's side, the men's division of the 2009 US Open has been at least somewhat predictable, provided you saw the ousting of Andy Roddick coming this early. Roger Federer remains the favourite and he now carries an odds-on price to do so. Popular UK bookmakers BetFred have laid odds at 5/6 that Federer will take the tournament victory. Scotland's Andy Murray has been putting in some quality performances so far and he is a clear second favourite to win the tournament. He's available at a very enticing 11/4. Former World #1 Rafael Nadal sits at 8/1, which is great value even on an each-way bet. Other notables include Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin Del Potro at 10/1. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga sits at 28/1 while Robin Soderling sits at 40/1. American upstart John Isner sits alongside Gael Monfils and Fernando Gonzalez at 66/1. Keep in mind that you can take advantage of the each-way betting on offer at BetFred. You can get 1/3 the odds on the top 2 finishers, so you can back individual players to make the final and still get paid out. I think Federer is in incredible form, but he's not unbeatable. I think this one could really be Andy Murray's opportunity to get his Scots clutches around that elusive first major championship. Federer is a very heavy 1/50 favourite to beat out Tommy Robredo who sits at 14/1. Tsonga is favoured to beat out Gonzalez at 8/13 against 5/4. Nadal is set for a victory over Gael Monfils and though he's capable of springing a surprise, I find Nadal's 4/7 odds very solid. Del Potro is a big favourite over Ferrero. My upset of the day is John Isner vs Fernando Verdasco- I'll be backing the 6 foot 9 Isner at 7/4.
