2009 WELSH NATIONAL AT CHEPSTOW BETTING TIPS

We have a massive field set to contest the 2009 Welsh National today at Chepstow and you'll recognize many of the names from last year's Grand National- including the winner that day Mon Mome who is sent out again by Miss Venetia Williams. Mon Mome and Liam Treadwell are priced sky-high at 33/1 and that horses quality closing ability could prove to be an ace up his sleeve on the Chepstow course.
The current betting favourite is 5/1 Le Beau Bai and he scored in handicap company at Chepstow earlier in the month. He's surely an up-and-coming 6 year-old and I'm not too interested based mostly on the price. He's capable, but I think there are better runners in the race.
Paul Nicholls The Tother One is a quirky 8 year-old who is lightly-raced and well-positioned to score here. I think he's a progressive runner and has done well this season on the listed circuit. He's looking to take a step up in class here and boasts quality connections and a solid pedigree. I like him at his 6/1 price but I could use a bit more value. I expect movement on him pre-race.
Kilbeggan Blade really had a shot at the Grand National before being pulled up a few hurdles before the finish. He is priced at an explosive 40/1 and could really pull off a surprise here. He's your selection if you're a value hunter and would pay out well on a 2nd or 3rd place finish as well. He is a sure-fire each-way selection.
Halcon Genelardais is well-priced at around 10/1 with 888 while Cornish Sett is another interesting candidate but hasn't won in over a year. I'll be going with Mon Mome and Kilbeggan Blade as my long-shot selections and the Tother One as my winner.
