2009 Wimbledon: Quarter Final Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on June 30, 2009 04:42 GMTWe're getting down to the business end of the 2009 edition of Wimbledon, and this year's major tournament has been full of upsets and excitement.
The women are taking to the court today and we are starting to see some consolidation for Venus and Serena Williams, with Serena being the outright favourite.
Andy Murray survived a scare today to join a very respectable-looking elite 8 in the men's division. Roger Federer continues to perform well and he remains the odds-on favourite.
Andy Murray is still the second favourite, but is a tad underpriced become of the patriotic bets that bookies always see on him. He's at 2/1 now and that's not a huge amount of value.
Novak Djokovic is at 12/1, just ahead of Andy Roddick who sits at 14/1. Lleyton Hewitt is at 25/1 while Tommy Haas is at 33/1. Karlovic and Ferrero are at 40/1 and 80/1, respectively.
In terms of today's match betting, Safina is 2/5 favourite to beat out Lisicki, who carries a 7/4 pricetag. Dementieva vs Schiavone puts Elena in as the clear 2/7 favourite against 5/2 Schiavone. Venus Williams is at 1/10 against Radwanska and she is expected to absolutely pummel her. Serena sits at 2/7 against 5/2 Azarenka- who could very well pull off the upset.
