2009 WIMBLEDON TENNIS BETTING TIPS
Wimbledon 2009 has been underway all week and we've seen plenty of action and excitement with some top seeds suffering early exits - Ms. Sharapova we are looking in your direction. As it currently stands right now Roger Federer is the odds-on favourite to secure his 2nd major victory of the year and he carries a price of 8/13 to win Wimbledon outright. Andy Murray is priced quite short, likely for a few non-tennis reasons, and he is listed at 5/2. The odds then take a dramatic jump to 12/1 if you're looking to back Novak Djokovic and 14/1 for those who favour Andy Roddick. After those two, the men's odds take another dramatic jump to 25/1 for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and 33/1 for Llewyton Hewitt. Tommy Haas is 40/1 while Fernando Verdasco, Robin Soderling and Tomas Berdycg are all listed at 66/1. Other notables include Gills Simon and Nikolay Davydenko at 200/1. David Ferrer is 175/1 while Igor Andreev is at 500/1. You can always count on lots of in-play wagering on the Wimbledon tournament and you can also take advantage of Paddy Power's each-way betting which offers up 1/2 odds on the first two places. If you're looking at the ladies outright betting market, you'll see that Venus and Serena Williams continue to dominate the proceedings with Serena at 15/8 and Venus listed at a 8/4 price. Victoria Azarenka is 7/1 while Dinara Safina is listed at a 12/1 price. You can back Elena Dementieva 20/1 and Jelena Jankovic at 25/1. Amelie Mauresmo is 50/1 while Caroline Wozniacki is 18/1. As usual, you can use the each-way market to pick the contestants in the final. From my stand point this one is definitely Federer's to lose in the men's market and I'm also thinking about a patriotic bet on Andy Murray. It would be great to see him win on British soil and I'm tempted to back a Murray/Federer final, but the value just isn't there. I think an All-Williams final is a very distinct possibility as both sisters are in such good form. This is one for the favourites and could be a really exciting few weeks.
