2009 WORLD SERIES OF POKER FINAL TABLE BETTING

The kick off of the widely-anticipated final table at the 2009 WSOP is drawing closer by the day and Darvin Moon is the outright favourite for the victory at 5/2 and his 58.93m in chips is the main reason why. He's got the lions share of the cash flow at this table, but he's going to be coming up against some absolutely stellar competition. Eric Buchman is the 2nd favourite at a 4/1 listing with 34.8m in chips, and this is by far the biggest tournament he's ever played in. His previous best performance came in a 2nd place finish at the WSOPC Atlanic City Main Event where he cash in over $208,000. Another New Yorker, Steven Begleiter, has the third largest chipstack at 29.88m. He's a regular at Foxwoods Casino and describes himself as a social poker player. William Hill lists Steven Begleiter at 6/1, alongside Jeff Shulman, to win the tournamenmt. Shulman has 19.59m and he, as the editor of Card Player Magazine, he knows a thing or two about poker. The biggest name on the list is by far Phil Ivey. He's short-stacked in this main event at a mere 9.77m chips but he's considered third favourite to win the entire thing with an enticing 11/2 price. Things will fluctuate very quickly here and that 11/2 could quickly turn into an odds-on price if Ivey gets the right cards quickly. I think he is by far the most solid bet in this one and, while he is up against some quality and some experience, Ivey is the best all-around poker player in the game today. Other betting options include Joseph Cada with 13.22m and Kevin Schaffel with 12.39m. They can both be backed at 12/1 while James Akenhead and Antoine Stout, with 6.8m and 9.5m respectively, can both be backed at 16/1. My bet on this one is to steer clear of Darvin Moon and Eric Buchman. I'll be focusing on Jeff Shulman and Phil Ivey for the win and the coveted bracelet.
