2009 X-FACTOR LATEST ODDS AND BETTING TIPS
We are definitely down to the business end of the 2009 edition of X-Factor and after the dramatic departure of John & Edward last week. Five contestants remain and the betting markets have heated up furiously for the widely-anticipated finale.
As it currently stands, Joe McElderry gets the nod as the outright favourite carrying a 6/4 price at William Hill and 11/8 with Paddy Power. Stacey Solomon is listed at 9/4 with each bookmaker. Olly Murs sees a 3/1 margin all around and Danyl Johnson trades at 5/1 with William Hill and 6/1 at Paddy Power. Lloyd Daniels looks virtually out of it with a 33/1 margin.
If you’re looking to bet on the next elimination, it looks to be pretty one-sided at this point with Lloyd Daniels dramatically behind the others. However, a good performance combined with a bad one from another contestant could make a real difference. For the eighth elimination, Daniels is odds-on at 4/6 with Danyl Johnson the next likeliest candidate at 9/4. The odds then take a pretty significant jump to 6/1 for Olly Murs. Joseph McElderry and Stacey Solomon both sit comfortably at 16/1 with William Hill. Interestingly enough, Paddy Power considers Solomon much more likely to go home next, carrying a 12/1 price with McElderry at 18/1.
It looks to be a virtual dead-heat on the Winning Manager market with Cheryl Cole just edging Simon Cowell at 6/4 and 13/8 respectively. Dannii Minogue is listed at 5/2.
Paddy Power definitely has the market cornered on special bets for X-Factor though. The Cheryl Cole Success Specials market has a number of interesting odds for the woman who is somehow married to Ashley Cole. She is 3/1 to be cast in a major blockbuster movie by the end of 2010 (they indicate that the film must have a budget of over $100 million and she must have a starring role). She is 6/1 to appear in the Christmas edition of Doctor Who 2009. Should “Fight For This Love” get to #1 in the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, you’ll be looking at 6/1. She is 8/1 to be named the next Bond Girl. She is 10/1 to be invited to meet president Obama at the White House by 2011. She is 100/1 to be made a Dame in the Queens Christmas Honours 2009 and a massive 500/1 to win a Best Actress Oscar in her lifetime.
There are also some special bets for the Grimes Brothers (or Jedward, if that’s your preference). Should they be nominated for a BRIT award by 2015 you’re looking at 3/1. They are 6/1 to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2010, they are 8/1 to get their own TV show by 2011 and 10/1 to sign a multi-million pound TV presenting deal with ITV by 10/1. They are also 40/1 to replace Ant & Dec on I’m a Celebrity… as presenters. They are also a full 100/1 to appear on the front cover of time magazine by 2011.
