2009/10 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUPS AND BETTING ODDS

The 2009 Champions League Groups have been drawn and we've got some very interesting groups lined up for the 2009/10 Champions League. The Groups were drawn as follows:Group A - Bayern Munich, Juventus, Bordeaux, Maccabi HaifiGroup B - Manchester Utd, CSKA Moscow, Besiktas, WolfsburgGroup C - AC Milan, Real Madrid, Marseille, ZurichGroup D - Chelsea, Porto, Atletico Madrid, APOELGroup E - Liverpool, Lyon, Fiorentina, DebreceniGroup F - Barcelona, Inter Milan, Dynamo Kyiv, Rubin KazanGroup G - Sevilla, Rangers, Stuttgart, UrziceniGroup H - Arsenal, AZ Alkmaar, Olympiacos, Standard LiegeGoing into this draw the two favourites were Barcelona and Real Madrid. The two other major contenders are Manchester United and Chelsea. The odds are undergoing a reshuffle at most of the major bookmakers but we can assume that the odds won't be changing around too significantly. The plum draw, in my opinion is Arsenal in Group H. Alkmaar are a quality domestic side, but I'm not sure how well they'll do on this stage. Additionally, I really like the looks of Group G that has presented a real opportunity for Rangers to get through to the next stage of the competition. The Group of Death looks like Group C with AC Milan, Real Madrid, Marseille and FC Zurich. The only other one that comes slightly close is Group F with Barca, Inter, Dynami Kiev and Rubin Kazan. Group A looks tough as well. Expect to see Barcelona listed around 9/2 for the outright win, with Real Madrid probably just a step behind at 5/1 or 11/2. Chelsea face a relatively simple draw so their odds may drop a little bit. I would expect them to be around 7/1. Manchester United will likely be trading at around 8/1 and their price could drop with some impressive results.
