2010 AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS LATEST OUTRIGHT BETTING TIPS
We are now finally getting down to the business-end of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. Teams are starting to get eliminated as steady streams of draws and losses begin to take their toll. There has been plenty of movement in the betting markets at Ladbrokes for this event and we can expect stiff competition among the shorter-priced teams.
If there’s one thing the odds are telling us right now, it’s that we’re gearing up for an Ivory Coast vs Egypt final. Cote D’Ivoire trades at a slim 15/8 to win the tournament, having gotten their goalscoring form back after a tame 0-0 draw to open the contest. Didier Drogba and Co. are in rude form right now and will look to keep hitting the goal with regularity.
I tipped Egypt as a potential dark horse and my bet would have been a great one for anybody on the exchanges as the former Champions have shortened from 8/1 down to 11/4. Former second-place favourite Cameroon, led by Samuel Eto’o, trade at 6/1 while Nigeria, Angola and Ghana all remain slightly competitive at 9/1.
The other prices include Algeria at 16/1, Gabon at 25/1 and then we take a big jump to 40/1 for Tunisia and Burkina Faso (who have done well this tournament). Benin and Zambia trade at 100/1 while Mozambique can be backed at 250/1.
On the 19th of January, we’ll see Ghana taking on Burkina Faso without their talisman Michael Essien. Ghana remain hot favourites at 8/15, but Burkina Faso will see this as a must-win victory and their 9/2 price is quite reasonable. We’ll be focusing on this match-up a bit closer to kick-off but it should be a very important fixture.
