2010 AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS ODDS AND LATEST TIPS
The business end of the 2010 African Cup of Nations is set to go and it looks like we’re down to the elite eight in this incredible competition. The only real surprises I guess would be Zambia and Algeria and I’m sure that their fans would argue otherwise. Both of them were listed at lengthy odds to win the tournament but they are very much still in this and all it takes right now is three good performances and you’ve won the title! In my opinion, this is crunch time for many of the smaller teams as the footballing powerhouses of Africa are all still around, despite many of them getting off to shaky starts.
The betting volume is coming thick and fast at Betfair with Ivory Coast retaining their spot as the favourite in the tournament. They are trading at a best price of 3.1 while Egypt are the second favourite at 4.7 to win the whole thing.
Cameroon are available at around 8.5 at the moment, pretty much dead on with Nigeria and Angola who trade at a similar price. Ghana can be backed at 11.5 and I suspect they would be much shorter if Michael Essien remained in the competition. Algeria trades as the 30.0 long-shot with Zambia interestingly-priced at 24.0.
The 2010 Africa Cup of Nations top goalscorer odds are down to three or four solid competitors with a chance of actually winning it barring some form of 5 goal haul. Flavio Amado is the odds-on favourite with a 1.8 price- he’s the man to beat. Jacob Mulenga is listed at 4.0 while Manucho can be backed at 5.5 with Gervinho trading at 7.6. Didider Drogba is still in with a shout at 6.0 and if Cote D’Ivoire get to the final, he will have every chance. Emad Meteab can be backed at 6.0 as well. Obafemi Martins is at 11.0.
On January 24th, Angola vs Ghana will happen and then we’ll see Ivory Coast vs Algeria. Both of those will be cracking fixtures. While the betting volume is low on the match at the moment, you’ll find the sides in a virtual dead-heat with Angola just edging it at 2.68 ahead of 2.74 Angola. These prices will fluctuate further as we get closer to kick-off. A 90 minute draw pays 3.15. This one is dead even and either side could take this.
Ivory Coast are heavy favourites to beat Algeria and they are trading at an odds-on price of 1.7 to do so. Algeria can be backed at 5.3 for the 90 minute victory while the draw pays a 3.7 margin. I think Algeria can take this if Ivory Coast have a poor match, but they simply have so many goal threats, Algeria will need to replicate their form that got them into the 2010 World Cup.
