2010 AUSTRALIAN OPEN MEN'S OUTRIGHT BETTING TIPS
We have some really incredible action ahead of us as the first major tennis tournament of the year is now in full swing. The betting markets have been heating up all day and we've seen some very solid prices available at 888sports.
Currently, the outright markets look a near dead-heat between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal- shocking news, I know. Federer carries an 11/4 outright price so there isn't a huge amount of value on him unless he actually wins the final. Nadal is more or less the same story and his price is only a bit bigger at 10/3.
Novak Djokovic is considered to be a strong contender for this tournament and he trades at 11/2 alongside Juan Martin del Potro- who I consider to be my dark horse selection for the tournament. Andy Murray was a perennial 3rd favourite behind Nadal and Federer all last year and the lack of a major tournament victory is telling, as Murray now trades at 6/1.
Nikolay Davydenko rounds out the list of strong contenders with his 8/1 listing as the odds then take a big jump up to 20/1 for the likes of Fernando Verdasco and Andy Roddick.
Other notables in the 2010 Australian Open Men's Tournament include Gael Monfils at 100/1, the fiery Robin Soderling at a still plausible 25/1. James Blake trades at 250/1 and you'll find Tommy Haas at 150/1. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga retains a competitive price of 33/1. The odds also include a few dozen people I've never heard of, listed between 1000/1 and 5000/1.
This one looks fairly open, but I think some of the favourites may be shaken up by the fact that former champion Maria was upset so early in the tournament. Federer is a considerable favourite and he has been demonstrably better than Rafa Nadal for the past several months. I think he's a very strong candidate to get to the final and there's only 3 or 4 players who I think can legitimately beat Federer in the final. They are Juan Martin del Potro, Nadal and, my long shot, Robin Soderling. Keep in mind that you can get an each-way bet for 1/2 the odds to finish in the top 2- effectively backing a player to make it to the final.
My selections are del Potro at 11/2 on an each-way and Soderling on an each-way at 25/1.
