2010 BREEDERS CUP ANTEPOST BETTING TIPS AND PARLAY PREDICTIONS

Most major UK Bookmakers already have their antepost markets up for a number of the key Breeders Cup races and you can put together some tidy tickets at this point if you’re willing to make some long-range selections up front.
Ladbrokes has odds released for the 2010 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare’s Turf, the 2010 Breeders Cup Sprint, the 2010 Breeders Cup Mile and the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic.
As it currently stands, Midday (Oasis Dream) is the heavy favourite for the Filly’s and Mares race with Ladbrokes pricing her at even money. She looks to be one of the early bankers, having won the race last year, and the Juddmonte-bred bay filly will be looking for her fourth Group 1 score on the bounce. It will be interesting to see how she handles the surface at Churchill Downs.
The main competition looks to be coming from Proviso (Dansili), another Juddmonte-bred. The five year-old mare has been campaigning in the USA this year, having captured three Grade 1 scores since she made the switch back to turf. You can grab a 13.0 price tag. Éclair De Lune (Marchand De Sable) is trading at 11.0 but doesn’t look the value play like Proviso.
The 2010 Breeders Cup Sprint is a bit more open and the current betting favourite is the justifiable Discreetly Mine (Mineshaft) and he just took the King’s Bishop Stakes for his first Grade 1 score. Todd Pletcher’s colt is sitting at 5.0 behind Big Drama (Montbrook) and Here Comes Ben (Street Cry), who can both be backed at 9.0.
Defending Champion Dancing in Silks (Black Minnaloushe) is trading at 26.0 to defend his title. That’s a great price on a course/distance winner and Ken Kinakin’s $21,000 purchase could pay big dividends if he chooses to run in this race.
The 2010 Breeders Cup mile is unsurprisingly dominated by Goldikova (Anabaa) at a 3.0 price tag. The talented female has continued her tradition this year but fell just short in a Group 1 turf event at Deauville when sent off as the 4/6 favourite. Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) is coming into form nicely and he is a much stronger contender here than he was in the Classic last year. You can back him at 6.0.
The respected Gio Ponti (Tale of the Cat) is trading at 13.0 and he will be looking for another big score here, after having just missed out to Zenyatta (Street Cry) last year.
Speaking of the devil, Zenyatta’s odds to win the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic are listed at 6.0- just behind the current betting favourite Lookin At Lucky (Smart Strike). You can back the Bob Baffert-trained colt at a 5.0 price and you reckon that he’ll dip a bit lower than that come race day.
You can’t deny that the Big Z will be there to play and it would be the biggest statement west coast racing ever made if Zenyatta ran at Churchill and defended her title in the Classic. Other contenders include Quality Road (Elusive Quality) at 7.0 and the up-and-coming Blame (Arch) who defeated Quality Road in the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga back in August. You can back Blame at an 8.0 price tag.
Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia D’Oro) is trading at 13.0 while Twice Over (Observatory) is available at 17.0 alongside Afleet Express (Afleet Alex) and Grade 2 winner Fly Down (Mineshaft).
You can lock in a four race parlay on Midday x Discreetly Mine x Goldikova x Zenyatta at a 180/1 price with Ladbrokes. A longer-shot four-fold selection would be Proviso x Dancing in Silks x Rip Van Winkle x Zenyatta at a whopping 12168/1.
