2010 CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL LATEST ODDS FOR TOP JOCKEY AND TOP TRAINER
There are plenty of very lucrative-looking betting opportunities as we draw closer to the opening day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival and we're going out of our way to examine the interesting side bets available. I find looking at the betting odds for top trainer and top jockey generally gives you some extra information which can be beneficial further down the line when you're making your selections.
I fancy Paul Nicholls and his yard to get off to a fairly strong start on the opening day and if you think that Ruby Walsh is set for a few victories, then you can count yourself in the majority. Currently, Ruby Walsh trades at around 1/2 to win more races at the 2010 Cheltenham Festival than any other jockey.
Barry Geraghty is the second place favourite at a 4/1 price tag with Tony McCoy available at 7/1 with most major bookmakers. Robert Thornton looks like really the only other plausible contender and he's trading at around 14/1 at the moment.
Other prices are generally in the 25/1 or 50/1 range so you should probably limit the bulk of your funds on these top four selections and I am going to be favouring Ruby even if the value isn't really there. He is lined up for a few genuine bankers and most of the stronger Paul Nicholls jumpers and that's really all I need to hear.
Speaking of Paul Nicholls, he's listed at 1/2 to be named the top trainer of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival. You can track down our review of all of Paul Nicholls top contenders in the 2010 Cheltenham Festival section on our site.
Nicky Henderson pays out at 7/2 if he can win more than Paul Nicholls while Willie Mullins remains at 8/1. Alan King is listed at 14/1 while David Pipe trades at 16/1. Jonjo O'Neill is at 20/1 alongside Noel Meade. Nigel Twiston-Davies' odds are at 25/1 with Howard Johnson at 50/1.
