2010 CHINA OPEN- 6th OCTOBER- BETTING ODDS AND TIPS
There are some interesting tussles lined up over the day today, in what has been a largely predictable tournament thus far.
With all of the top seeds still present, many are wanting to sift through the opening rounds and get down to the ‘business end’ of the tournament
With that said, there are some interesting tussles lined up:
First up, Frenchman Giles Simon comes up against Michael Berrer in what is being dubbed an easy French victory. This clash will be a rather mediocre affair, with two players that are struggling to stamp their mark on the tour.
Giles Simon is placed at 1.3, to Berrer's 3.4
In what William Hill is deeming one of the tighter contests of the day, John Isner takes on the grammatical nightmare name of Phillip Kohlschreiber. Isner made his name this year by winning the longest match in professional tennis history by beating Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 70-68.
The 32nd ranked American is edged here by William Hill, with Kohlschreiber odds on favourite at 1.67, to the American at 2.1
In the clash of the day- Nikolay Davydenko takes on Marin Cilic in what will be clash of pure power and longevity. Despite having a somewhat mediocre year thus far Davydenko is still favoured here at 1.73, to the Croatian’s 2.0 even.
This assumption is down to Davydenko's effective employment of an offensive baseline game, using hard, penetrating groundstrokes on both wings, with this style not suiting Cilic's more defensive approach.
In the most one-sided match of the day, defending champion Novak Djokovic takes on Mardy Fish.
Fish has had a very mediocre year thus far, with Djokovic coming off a thrilling run in the US Open. Beating Federer on route to losing in the final, Djokovic will be looking to get back to winning ways here today with a solid performance against easy opposition.
Djokovic is dead on favourite here, and the real 'gimme' of the lot at 1.25, with Fish at 3.75
All in all, things should very much go to plan here today, with everyone waiting for what they expect to see...a Djokovic vs. Murray finale.
While there is some decent talent on show here today, one gets the feeling that the ATP Tour has very much become a 5 horse race, with Murray and Djokovic due a win in this tournament of minnows.
Betting Tip: An Accumulator of Davydenko/Djokovic at 2.16
