2010 EUROVISION LATEST ODDS SHOW DUEL BETWEEN LENA MEYER-LANDRUT AND SAFURA ALIZADEH

With the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest just a few weeks away, the odds are definitely starting to settle down a bit and the two big favourites since the start of the competition continue to dominate the betting.

Azerbaijan’s Safura Alizadeh remains the favourite by a very slim margin with a 5/2 price tag. She has been trading the favourite position with Germany’s Lena Meyer-Landrut over the past few months and the German counterpart trades at a 3/1 price- just a touch behind Alizadeh.
I think that you’re going to see some real swings once the semi-final actually starts and I think that Azerbaijan will likely see the bulk of the movement. I think that betting on Azerbaijan at this point puts you in a bit of a vulnerable position as the odds will definitely move around after Semi Final 2. The Germans don’t have to compete until the final and this can be a bit of a double-edged sword. Meyer-Landrut only really gets one performance to try to win over the voting public while Safura Alizadeh gets a semi-final (which she is heavily-favoured to win) and a likely performance in the final as well.
Of course, it could all backfire on the Azerbaijani and if she doesn’t perform to expectations then her price will likely increase sharply. Meyer-Landrut is the safer bet at this point, but I do think that they are the only two real contenders here.
Israel’s Harel Skaat is the clear third favourite at a 7/1 price tag. Denmark’s Chanee & N’evergreen are considered to be the 4th favourites at a 9/1 price.
You will likely get a pretty good glimpse into where things are heading after the second semi-final which will include Azerbaijan, Denmark and Israel.
Looking at the current betting odds for Semi Final #2, you’ll see Azerbaijan at 15/8, Israel at 3/1 and Denmark at a 6/1 price. Things are definitely competitive there. I actually think Alizadeh at 15/8 to win the second semi-final is actually a safer bet than backing her to win the competition outright. To win the competition, she needs to win tha semi-final.
