If you’re looking to back the winning trainer- Paul Nicholls, unsurprisingly, looks to be your man. He’s trading at a solid 11/2 and boasts a solid stable of contenders here including 16/1 Tricky Trickster, 66/1 Nozic, 40/1 My Will and betting favourite 9/1 Big Fella Thanks. David Pipe to train the winner pays 6/1 with DT Hughes, Willy Mullins and any female trainer listed at 10/1. Nigel Twiston-Davies is at 14/1 while Jonjo O’Neill is listed at 16/1.
You can back a JP McManus-owned winner at 13/2 or a David Johnson winner at 10/1. Tony McCoy is 8/11 to complete the course for the 2010 Grand National and that’s not a bad side bet as he’s got a pretty good record over his career. You can also wager on the starting price of the winner with 20/1 or under paying out at 4/7 while 22/1 to 40/1 pays out at 2/1 and 50/1 or over rewards at a 5/1 price. This is a decent bet for novice punters.
Should the Grand National winner be carrying 10st13lb or less, you’ve got an 8/11 price tag while 11 stone or more pays out at even money.
A 10 year-old is favoured to win the race by a considerable margin. A 10 year-old winner pays out at 6/4 while an 8 year-old rewards at 4/1. Nine or eleven pays 9/2, a 7 year-old rewards at 13/2 while a 12 year-old veteran pays out a large 20/1.
Top Irish Runner Betting is available on the 2010 Grand National with Arbor Supreme, Black Apalachi and Snowy Morning all alongside each other as the 4/1 favourites. Back Stage sits at 5/1 with Vic Ventauri at 13/2. Ballyholland trades at 15/2 while King Johns Castle is a 17/2 price tag. Long shots include Priests Leap at 33/1, Conna Castle at 50/1 with Made in Taipan listed at an identical price. You’re also looking at a tidy 50/1 on an Irish 1-2-3 in the Grand National.
A grey horse to win the 2010 Grand National rewards at a hefty 10/1. Beat the Boys, Character Building, King Johns Castle and Piraya are all classed as greys.
A dead-heat for first place would pay out a large 66/1 bet. That’s a tricky one, but you may find it worth a bash, especially if you’re backing a wide assortment of win-only horses.
