2010 KENTUCKY DERBY LATEST MORNING LINE ODDS AND POST POSITIONS
We’ve examined the odds and dropped some knowledge on who I think my Derby favourites are and the puzzle pieces are starting to come together as the morning line odds for the 2010 Kentucky Derby were introduced and the post-positions have thrown down the gauntlet to current betting favourite Lookin At Lucky who has drawn post 1- a huge disadvantage and this has prompted popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes to raise his odds from 4.0 to 5.0 instantly.
My tip for the 2010 Kentucky Derby- Ice Box- has drawn the second post and is listed at 10/1 in the morning line and an identical price for 11.0 on Ladbrokes. Noble’s Promise is coming out of post 3 and is trading at 12/1 in the morning line, but is listed at a massive 21.0 with Ladbrokes- expect his price to rise significantly at Churchill Downs.
Super Saver has been on the Derby trail for quite a while and he’s drawn stall 4 and trades at 15/1 in the ML. That’s actually a better price than the UK bookmakers list him at with Ladbrokes preferring a 13.0 price. Line of David is in stall 5 and trades at 30/1 in the morning line. He is at literally half that price with Ladbrokes and can be backed at a slim 15.0.
Stately Victor is a very interesting selection, he comes out of the sixth position and is also listed at 30/1. He’s at 21.0 in the UK markets. American Lion is in there with a shout and is in stall 7 and also trading at 30/1 in the morning line. The UK prices hover around 17.0.
Dean’s Kitten takes Robby Albarado for the mount and trades at a massive 50/1 coming out of stall 8. You’ll find him at 41.0 in the Ladbrokes market. Make Music for Me is one of the last entries and he’s coming out of stall 9 and trades at a lengthy 50/1. Ladbrokes lists him at 41.0 as well.
Paddy O’Prado had seen speculation that he wouldn’t run, but he is indeed set to line up out of the 10 stall and he’s priced at 20/1 in the morning line, but is listed at a very solid 34.0 in the UK markets.
Todd Pletcher has entered the lone filly Devil May Care and she is in the 11th post and also is the only contender to carry 121- all the boys carry 126. She is a definite contender at 10/1 in the morning line and 11.0 on Ladbrokes.
Conveyance is a lower-key type of runner and he’s drawn post 12. He is also trading at 12/1 in the ML and is at a very solid 21.0 with Ladbrokes.
Jackson Bend is my outside bet due to his more compact size (which should let him navigate a crowd easier) and his pair of 2nd place finishes to Eskendereya. He’s priced at 15/1 in the morning line coming out of the lucky 13th stall. He’s a whopping 34.0 on Ladbrokes and I’ll be locking in a bet on him at that price- that’s for sure.
Mission Impazible comes out of the 14th stall and is trading at 20/1 in the morning line and a 17.0 price with Ladbrokes. Discreetly Mine is in the 15th stall and he’s available at a 30/1 price with a massive 50.0 price tag on Betfair.
Stall 16 belongs to the highly-rated Awesome Act and he’s available at 10/1 in the morning line and is priced below that at 9.0 on Ladbrokes- making him the 3rd favourite there. Dublin is in stall 17 and can be backed at 17.0 on Ladbrokes and 12/1 in the US morning line.
Backtalk is another late entry to the Kentucky Derby and he’s in stall 18, priced at 50/1 in the morning line and carries the longest price on Ladbrokes at 67.0. Homeboykris is in stall 19 and trades at 50/1 in the ML and 51.0 on Ladbrokes.
The final entry is Sidney’s Candy- who draws the far outside post position of 20. This is your clear second favourite at 5/1 and 7.0 on Ladbrokes. Clearly the draw has enhanced his odds and hampered the odds of Lookin at Lucky.
