2010 KING GEORGE DAY AT ASCOT PREVIEW AND BETTING SELECTIONS PART ONE
We've got a genuinely first-class lineup of racing all over the countryside today with the feature race being the Group 1 King George VI Stakes at Ascot. Combine that incredible race with a number of other exciting Group level clashes and you've got a recipe for turf-based excitement.
It goes without saying that the Scoop6 is reaching lifechanging payouts once again, with predictions that a single winner this week would pocket over £750,000 if they took next week's bonus race as well.
We've already gone into some detail about how we think the King George is going to wind up so you can check that out by clicking on the box to your left. Right here in this article, we'll be examining the other races set to be run today.
The opening fixture is the 1:30 Longines Handicap which is a race for fillies and mares but also includes 100% female jockeys, most of whom are amateur. Record-wise, your eye immediately goes to Abbondaza (Cape Cross) who just lost her first race after taking five victories in a row when sent off as a favourite virtually every time. I think this is definitely one who knows how to win and I think it just wasn't her day out at Redcar. Ocean Legend (Night Shift) attracts a bit of attention, but I'm veering towards Dabbers Ridge (Indian Ridge) as the potential spoiler here as she's the only one with a course and distance victory. I think she could roll back the years today.
Mahmood Al Zarooni lines up his one-for-one Deep South (Red Ransom) as he steps up to the listed circuit in the Jaguar XK Winkfield Stakes at 2:05. I will be playing Deep South here and his maiden score wasn't the easiest type of race either. He showed plenty of acumen over the final furlong and that could prove the difference here. Some contenders in this race have run over six times and are still only two, I think the fresher horses take the day so Drawing Board (Pastoral Pursuits) and Auld Burns (Pastoral Pursuits) will likely run second and third, respectively.
