2010 KING GEORGE DAY AT ASCOT PREVIEW AND BETTING SELECTIONS PART TWO
In the 2:40 Group 3 Princess Margaret Abu Dhabi Stakes I'm jumping on board Margot Did (Exceed and Excel). This bay fillie put in a great shift on her first step up to Group level over the Ascot surface, running 2nd from a field of 22 and she was right there the whole way. She wasn't even pushed in her first two races, winning them both comfortably, and I think that the gamble here is basically that this is a progressive horse.
I think this is, potentially, a very important two year-old. Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's Soraaya (Elnadim) is my 2nd selection here and she also put in a good run in a Group 2 encounter to finish second although this was just to a field of 7, although a great bet at 10/1 at the time. I think she could be a there-or-thereabouts type in a field without any clear frontrunners.
The Dubai Duty Free Handicap is a 1m race around the Ascot surface being run at 3:15. This is one of the more difficult races of the day to decipher and Don't Call Me (Haafhd) jumps off the page but he hasn't really faced off against the best types and there is a bit more talent elsewhere. I'm looking at Ginger Jack (Refuse to Bend) and top-weighted Kalypso King (Giant's Causeway) to beat him. Personally, I think King could really have a go at this one as his past two races were terror-trips against higher quality opposition. The step down in class should be telling. If you can get him at a good price I say go for it on Kalypso King.
The 3:50 Victoria Racing Club International Stakes is an absolute jumble and this one could really be defined by who gets the best trip. It will be a proper cavalry charge with 22 contenders here, and I think that Yaa Wayl (Whipper) and Poet's Place (Mutakddim) are probably your best bets but don't be surprised if you see a very long-odds winner here.
The 5:35 Canisbray Bloodstock Handicap is an interesting affair and I think that Balletlou (Pentre Celebre) is a huge variable here having scored on her debut off a 20/1 price. Top-weighted Yashrid (Rahy) is a decent selection but some of his victories just haven't been as convincing as I'd like. Eddie Ahearn boards Heart of Hearts (Oasis Dream) and hould go off at a solid price.
