2010 SCOTTISH CUP FINAL ODDS AND BETTING TIPS

For a refreshing change neither of the Glasgow Old-Firm are in the Scottish Cup Final. That may mean that interests are lower than usual south of the border, but ask any non Rangers or Celtic fan in Scotland and they will tell you that they are happy to see Dundee United and Ross County contesting the Scottish Cup final.

It has been a rollercoaster season that could end with an almighty high for Dundee United. An impressive start to the season appeared to hit a brick wall when they lost manager Craig Levein to the national team and then went on to lose 7-1 to Rangers at Ibrox. But they have since turned that around, finished the season in third place and now have a chance of winning their first piece of silverware since 1994.
However, Ross County are not a side to be taken lightly. Despite finishing the season in fifth place in Scottish Division 1 they have already taken prized scalps of Celtic and Hibernian on route to the final and will hold neither fear nor pressure of expectation going into the game.
United are available to back at odds of 1.5 (1/2) on Betfair with Ross County at 7.0 (6/1) and the draw at 4.6 (7/2). But if you think that it may take extra time or even penalties to separate the two sides then it is 1.3 (30/100) on the Terrors lifting the cup and 4.3 (100/30) on the first division side.
As far as goal scorers go United will be looking to Jon Daly and David Goodwillie who have 25 goals between them this season. Daly is 4/1 with Stan James and Goodwillie 5/1 to net the opening goal of the cup final. Steve Craig got the opening goal of the game for Ross County, on this ground, against Celtic a month ago, and is 11/1 to do the same against Dundee United this weekend.
There may be a few empty seats at Hampden due to the lack of an Old-Firm representative but this is a special occasion for the people of Dingwall and (the tangerine half of) Dundee. Silverware rarely resides outwith Glasgow in Scotland, but this may well be the dawning of a new age for the countries third team.
