2010 SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL LATEST ODDS AND SELECTIONS
There's been plenty of movement in the betting markets for the 2010 Scottish Grand National over the past 24 hours and we're now seeing two solid co-favourites starting to edge ahead of the pack, while there are about six or seven contenders who are attracting the bulk of the betting.
Meanus Dandy has dropped in price over the past few hours and you'll find him at around 9/1 with popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes. Paul Nicholls' 7 year-old has been pointed at the Scottish National for quite som etime and he's had a faily solid season with his only big blip was when he was pulled up in mid-December at Exeter. He scored in a handicap chase at Sandowne in mid-March and looks like he may be able to make a statement for the Nicholls barn.
Ferdy Murphys Poker De Sivola has been attracting plenty of attention over the past few weeks and quickly jumped to the top of the betting markets. He took the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham against a field similar to this one and has put up some solid performances this year. He ran seventh in the Kim Muir last year and has shown acumen over longer distances. I think he's got a great chance and he trades at 9/1 with Ladbrokes.
Gone to Lunch is an interesting selection who finished a respectable fifth to Denman in the Hennessy Gold Cup Chase back in November. He has run second to Rare Bob and also managed to beat out the respected Tartak at Newbury two years ago. He's an older jumper and hasn't really boasted much form this year, but can't be ruled out. A bit short-priced at 10/1.
Theatrical Moment ran a disapointing sixth to Chief Dan George in the William Hill Trophy at Cheltenham this year. Prior to that he beat out two mediocre fields at Leicester in November and December. He's a there-or-thereabouts type and could be favoured for the place bet. He needs to take a big step up here to have a respectable chance at this.
Killyglen is worth looking at and he's well-priced at 22/1. He took a Grade 2 at Aintree last year and finished second in a race at Doncaster in early March. He looks to be an improver and could be worth a bet at that price.
I expect the each-way punters to come out in force, so there will be some price reductions in the hours leading up to the 2010 Scottish Grand National. Stay tuned to Betting Choice for another preview closer to the off.
