2010 WINTER OLYMPICS CANADA VS USA LAST MINUTE ODDS
We're now less than an hour away from the start of what's been dubbed "Super Sunday" by the Canadian media- a showdown that is expected to work out in their favour if the UK bookmakers and online betting exchanges are correct.
Betfair is seeing a fair amount of trading pre-match and it's starting to tick up by the minute as we get closer to the 4:30 PST start time.
Currently, Canada is can be backed at 1.4 while the United States odds are 3.45 in the outright money line. There's a few over/under options out there with some interesting indications of what is expected to unfold. Keep in mind that Betfair is a live market and the odds will be trading throughout the match, so its worth checking it out in-play.
You'll find the first over/under at 5.5 with the over trading at 1.81 with the under option priced at 2.22. The volume matched on this market is considerably higher than the other selection, which is a 6.5 goals margin paying 1.57 on the under and a solid 2.72 for the over. Basically, if you choose to take the over 6.5 you're betting on an open game with plenty of chances. If you think its going to be a nervy affair, opt for the under 5.5 at 2.22.
If you don't think the match is going to overtime, try backing Canada in the Regular Time Match Odds market which trades around 1.66 with the USA at a lengthy 4.7. If you're certain the match is going to overtime, but you don't know who's going to win, opt for the tie here at a solid 5.2.
The USA is listed at around 1.9 (+1.5) with Canada (-1.5) at 2.1 or so. The USA (+2.5) is around 2.38 and Canada (-2.5) pays out at 2.7.
There's also some interesting betting options available on the 1st period and it appears as though the market is expecting at least two goals. Over 1.5 goals can be backed at 1.7 while the under pays around 2.25 or so. If you think Canada will win the 1st period outright you can back that at about 2.15 while the USA can be backed at 4.5. A 1st period draw is still an interesting selection at 2.98.
I expect the volume to increase significantly in the build up and beginning of the match, so I would be sure to check out the live odds as they can be drastically different than the ones posted here if the markets get volatile.
