2010 WINTER OLYMPICS MEN’S DOWNHILL ODDS AND BETTING TIPS
After a few weather delays kept the Men’s Downhill from kicking off properly down in Whistler Creekside, we’re now just a few hours away from the medal event that pits the ever-present Didier Cuche against a number of highly-rated competitors.
The odds have certainly jumped around a lot in the past few days since the cancellations and it seems that, due to the weather and conditions, that there are now more variables in play. Cuche’s odds have risen to 4.0 while Michael Walchhofer is now trading at 6.5 to secure a second-place finish. Canada now looks poised for another medal as Manuel Osborne-Paradis now trades in third position at 7.5 with well-respected American Bode Miller bringing up fourth place at an 8.5 margin.
Canada’s Robbie Dixon, who will be performing on his local mountain, has dropped from a 17.0 price down to a respectable 12.0- firmly placing him in contention if any of the favourites make costly mistakes. Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal can be backed at 12.0 while Switzerland’s Carlo Janka remains competitive at 14.0.
Another Canadian Erik Guay is priced at a solid 16.0 and, although he is just out of striking distance, could put together a very respectable run here.
There is a full smattering of head-to-head betting available at Ladbrokes and they even have some over/under time betting between Didier Cuche and Bode Miller. You can back Cuche (-0.44) at 1.85 or take Miller (+0.44) at the same price.
The specials betting is also pretty interesting and you can back Robbie Dixon as top-Canadian at 2.2- an interesting bet considering that Osborne-Paradis carries some solid odds. No Europeans to win a medal pays 5.0 while Janka not to finish top 15 pays 2.2. Any Swede to win a medal in 2010 Men’s Downhill pays a solid 11.0. Bode Miller is 4.0 not to finish the race while favourite Dider Cuche now trades at 5.0.
There is a 1st/2nd correct order betting market and there are some really solid odds on offer, but the odds-on selection is “Any Other Combination” at 1.57. The stand-out choices here would be Cuche/Miller at 16.0 while Cuche/Osborne-Paradis pays 18.0. Duche/Dixon is a solid 19.0. Miller/Dixon is a whopping 31.0.
Get on over to Ladbrokes, because they’ll be offering up live in-play betting on the Men’s Downhill. You’ll be able to bet on a number of enhanced markets in-running!
