2010 WINTER OLYMPICS MENS FREESTYLE MOGULS LATEST ODDS AND TIPS
We saw some dramatic scenes from Cypress Mountain last night as the Canadian favourite Jennifer Heil was beaten on the last run to deny Canada their first gold medal on home soil. While Canada managed to get things off and running with a silver medal, you get the feeling that they want to get this taken care of sooner as opposed to later.
Tonight, we have the men's competition for Freestyle Moguls and it's an interesting situation as the current favourite is a Canadian-born turncoat who is now representing Australia. Dale Begg-Smith severed all relations with the Canadian team a few years before the previous winter Olympics in Turin. He's trading at 2.62 to win the gold medal here, but faces a stiff challenge from some well-ranked competitors.
Frenchman Guilbaut Colas is considered the second favourite at a 4.5 price with Ladbrokes, and he's got several World Cup victories under his belt. I'm a bit more tempted to side with Montreal's Alexandre Bilodeau who is the 3rd favourite at a solid 6.0 price. I think with the right run, he can make this happen as he's demonstrated a consistent ability to win over the past year or so. After a disapointing 11th in Turin, he scored in four straight World Cup events and clinched the overall 2009 moguls title. I think he is well-priced to challenge Begg-Smith and will have the crowd behind him all the way.
The other Canadians, Vincente Marquis and Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau are trading at 21.0 and 15.0, respectively. The United States' Byron Wilson is listed at 13.0 with Swede Jesper Björnlund also in striking distance at a 7.0 listing.
There are a few other interesting markets available including the head-to-head and specials options. Byron Wilson to finish top 5 pays 2.25 while Bjoernland is paying out at 1.16 to finish top 10 and 1.57 to go top 5. You can take Bilodeau over Bjoernlund at 1.85 or the reverse option for the same price in my pick from the head-to-head market.
Ladbrokes will be offering up live in-play betting on this event, so be sure to follow up later to get the best prices on tonights competition!
