2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF SNOOKER LATEST ODDS AND TIPS
Ronnie O’Sullivan is awarded favouritism in any snooker tournament almost by default. Hardly surprising given that when at his peak he is considered to be the most talented player of all time. The problem is that at odds of 4/1 he offers very little value for a player who has a notoriously fragile mental state and also professes that his game is in decline.
Johns Higgins, on the other hand, is the reigning World Champion and at slightly bigger odds of 6.0 (5/1) on Betfair represents much better value for money. Prior to his early exit in the recent China Open the Scot had made it to six consecutive ranking event semi-finals and has won the World Championships twice in the last three years. Higgins will certainly give you a run for your money if you decide to back him this week.
If you’re looking for a slightly bigger price bet then look no further than Mark Williams, he comes into this tournament approaching the peak of his game. After winning the title of World Snooker Champion in 2000 and again in 2003 his game went into apparent terminal decline, but, after a sustained period outside the world’s top 16 the man that they call The Welsh Potting Machine is back. He won the recent China Open beating Ding Junhui in his own back yard, subsequent to being an unlucky semi-final loser at the Masters in January. His renowned single-ball potting is back to its best and Williams at 14/1 with Paddy Power is a great each-way bet for the 2010 World Championships.
Finally, for those of you looking for a real big priced bet, to pay the month’s rent, might I suggest seven-time World Champion Stephen Hendry to roll back the years. Hendry may not still have all the aspects of his game that helped him dominate snooker for a decade but he does still have more than enough to compete with the best. This season, when in amongst the balls, he has been good as he ever was and certainly knows what is needed to win at the Crucible. Hendry can be backed at odds of 60.0 on Betfair.
Fans of the green baize relish this two week period at the beginning of the summer every year, and with the winds of change blowing around snooker this is a time to really get excited about the game.
